Parent Terms

These Parent Terms apply to you if you create a paid account as a parent or legal guardian. They sit alongside, and take precedence over, the Terms of Use on any point specific to your subscription. Our Privacy Policy and Cookie Notice also apply and are incorporated by reference.

1. Eligibility

The Platform is for use by parents or legal guardians aged 18 or over. By creating an account, you confirm that you are a parent or legal guardian of the child whose information you submit, that you have authority to provide that information, and that it is accurate to the best of your knowledge. The Platform is not intended for direct use by children.

2. The Service

Your subscription gives you access to structured profiling and school-matching insights generated from the information you provide about your child, and the ability to choose to share your child's profile with specific schools of your choosing through the Platform's matching and dashboard functionality. When you choose to share your profile with a school, that school gains access to the relevant information for the purpose of responding to your enquiry — see "Sharing information with schools" below and our Privacy Policy for more detail.

3. Price and Payment

The current subscription price is £200 per year or £20 per month. Payment is taken at the start of your subscription, via your chosen payment method, and your subscription renews automatically each year at the then-current price unless you cancel auto-renewal before the renewal date. We will give you reasonable advance notice by email before any price change takes effect on renewal.

You can cancel auto-renewal at any time through your account settings or by emailing info@future-schools.co.uk; cancelling stops future renewals but does not by itself entitle you to a refund of the current subscription period, except as set out below.

4. Your Right to Cancel (Cooling-Off Period)

As a consumer buying an online service, you have a legal right to cancel your subscription within 14 days of purchase without giving a reason, under the Consumer Contracts (Information, Cancellation and Additional Charges) Regulations 2013. To cancel, tell us clearly — by email to info@future-schools.co.uk — that you wish to cancel.

If you ask us to start providing the service before the 14 days is up and then cancel during that period, you will be charged a proportionate amount for the service already provided up to the point you told us you wanted to cancel; the rest will be refunded. If you do not ask us to start early, no service will begin until the 14 days has passed.

After the 14-day period, subscription fees already paid are non-refundable, except where the Platform is materially faulty or not as described, in which case your statutory rights under the Consumer Rights Act 2015 are unaffected.

5. Your Child's Profile Information

You retain ownership of the information you submit about your child. You grant us a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free licence to host, process and analyse that information for the purpose of operating and improving the Platform for as long as your account remains active.

6. What Happens to the Data After Your Subscription Ends

Following cancellation or expiry of your subscription, we will retain your child's profile data for 90 days, solely so that you can reactivate your account without re-entering everything, after which it will be permanently deleted or irreversibly anonymised.

We may retain and continue to use anonymised, aggregated data derived from submitted information indefinitely, provided it no longer identifies you or your child, and we may retain identifiable data for longer only where necessary to comply with a legal obligation or to establish, exercise or defend a legal claim.

7. Sharing Information with Schools

When you choose to share your child's profile with a specific school through the Platform, we send the relevant information to that school so their admissions team can monitor your enquiry. At that point, the school becomes responsible, as an independent data controller, for how it uses the information you have shared — see our Privacy Policy for more detail, and the School Terms for the obligations schools accept when they receive it. You choose which schools to share with; we do not share your child's identifiable profile with a school you have not selected.

8. Liability

Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud, or for any liability that cannot be excluded under English law. Subject to that, our total liability to you arising out of or in connection with your subscription is capped at the total fees you have paid us in the 12 months before the claim arose, and we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, including loss of opportunity.
